Leaders often rise based on their ability to make quick judgments. But when it comes to developing your people, the same quick judgment can be a liability. Embracing your curiosity is the solution. When a team member seems off in their decision-making, challenge yourself to consider what might be at play. TRY THIS: Double down on showing that you’re open and curious. Before making a judgment, ask questions like “What inspires you about that idea?” Or “What’s something that you find interesting about that approach?” Or “What additional options have you been contemplating?” Such questions (and their answers) should spark genuine interest and engagement for both of you.
