The better a manager can help team members recognize and use their innate talents, the more effective they will be. I like to pose a couple of questions, “So what are your gifts?” And “Where are you most happy?” Then, “Let’s look at what you’re doing today – let’s map that out. Tell me about your day. Tell me about where you’re using those gifts every single day. And if you aren’t … what about this position over here?” It’s about framing it in a very positive, passionate way.
